Laughter, the best medicine
As I mentioned before, you got to have a sense of humor when going through cancer, especially whith breast cancer, when you got 2 different sized boobs. My left side I look like a 20 something and my right side I look like I'm almost 40. I don't dare wear tight fighting tops or folks would see my lopsidedness.
Some of the funny things that have happened to me......
When all of my hair had fallen out (it is coming in pretty good now by the way) my daughter, Alie, was helping me to draw some eyebrows. We had 2 different colors to choose from so we did the left side in a light brown and the right side in a dark brown. We even put them on 2 different ways to see what would look best, we decided I looked better hairless. So we're going on about our day and I forgot about them. Later that evening the cable guy shows up tring to sell us a package for our phone, which we did end up getting, but anyways..... he comes over, I answer the door and invite him in. Hubby and I are talking to him and the girls are in the other room just a laughing. I turn to look at them and they smile at me and continue on. After the guy leaves I am informed that I had forgotten about my eyebrows. Not only did I answer the door in my bald beauty, but I had 2 different eyebrows. The guy probably thought I was nuts.
During radiation I would see the doctor once a week. As I was turning the corner from his office to go back to get my clothes on (I had on a gown and robe, this is what you had to wear every day for radiation) I was passing the waiting room and turned to smile at the folks waiting their turn. I ran smack into an informational site on the wall. I had no idea it was even there. Talk about embarssaing! That room full of folks waiting their turn saw me. I still have a bruise to this day.
I would have to say that the children are the cutest. Every day I'd go to pick up Sammy from school and they'd look at me to see what hat I was going to have on. One kid came to the house and I was bald headed. He kept his eyes right on my head, but didn't miss a beat as to what he was saying.
I walked around the entire time my hair felt out with one long eyebrow hair left. The durn thing wouldn't fall out, but at least I can say I didn't completely loose my eyebrows, I had that one long hair left.
