Jan 2007 Part 2
Jan 15 Tonight I went to a "Look good, feel better" class. It is put on by the American Cancer Socitey and they have them all over the United States. They teach you how to put on makeup, and to take care of your skin. I also received over $300.00 worth of products! My oldest, Alie, went with me and we had so much fun. The ladies there were so funny and we all laughed and had a great time. One girl was 20 years old when she was diagnosed with breast cancer. She is now 21 and doing great. It was sad to think of her going through this at such a young age, made me think of Alie, but she has come so far and has dealt with it very well. She is even an advocate for cancer patients now. One lady is making a book titled "Bald is Beautiful" and I have decided to allow to photograph me to put into the book. She is so funny and her book is going to help women deal with the loss of their hair, she is a cosmetologist, and she wants it to be inspiring and uplifting and fun to read. It was lots of fun.
Jan 16 Today I had an appt. with my plastic surgeon. He didn't fill the expander. He is pleased with how it looks and so I won't return to him until after my chemo. is finished. I was so happy!! Was not looking forward to getting that filled again after the last time. I took the pain meds before we left thinking I was going to get it filled. So I took them for nothing, they did however knock me out. I was so tired.
Jan 19 This morning hubby took my razor and shaved my head. The stubbles are gone and look so much better. It feels so much better now too. Nothing poking me here and there. Sammy was pleased and actually touched it when he came home from school. I guess I look more bald now without all of the stubble here and there.
Jan 25 Had my 3rd round of chemo. today. I wasn't sure if I'd be able too, I have been sick with a cold the last few days, but I had no fever so we went for it. Told my oncologist that I was having a menstrual cycle every other week since chemo. started. Here this chemo. is to put me into menapause and I'm going crazy with periods. The nurse said I was just going to be odd throughout this whole thing. She told me they could give me a medication to stop it if it comes down to it. We decided to try this new shot called Aranesp to boost my red blood count. This thing hurts!! They have to inject it into my arm slowly since it stings so bad. It wasn't too bad, but every now and then I'd get this stinging and she'd have to stop for a few seconds. They also put me onto some iron pills to see if that helps. Maybe I won't be so tired this time around. My mother fixed us dinner again and it was good. I took a nap for about an hour or so and then went to bed early too. Was pretty tired. They said it was one of the nausea medications I'm taking that knocks me out the day of chemo. Tomorrow I go for my neulasta shot, not looking forward to the bone and joint pain from that, but at least it only lasts a few days.
Jan 31 Still not feeling too well. This cold has really gotten me down and I just can't do too much. The computer makes me dizzy, my head is all clogged up and I just feel really run down. I've been so tired too.
